MTA Price Gouging?!

"The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board, in its capacity as the board of the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority, approved the controversial Central Business District toll rates by a vote of 11 to 1 on March 27. The approved toll rates, part of the controversial New York City congestion pricing plan, align with rates recommended by the Traffic Mobility Review Board on Nov. 30, 2023, and put forward for public review by the MTA Board on Dec. 6, with a handful of clarifications"

In short the MTA has decided to place a toll on those entering the city south of 60th street through the Triborough bridge. That same day there was an increase on prices on 12 subway lines. Although the increase on the subway lines can somewhat be justified with new buses and upgrades of the sorts; do we really think that another toll entering the city is something that is anyway justifiable? Rockland county is currently seeking an injunction on the matter as they believe it to be unfair to Hudson Valley commuters. It would cost $15 to enter through the Triborough bridge during the day and $3.75 at night.

For most commuters living in the Hudson Valley our normal entering times into the city would be for work during the day and not at night. Gone are the days for us of spending time enjoying the city at night. To us the city represents business and work that we travel the ways into for our profits to be eating up not only by state and federal taxes but now also by tolls from whichever way you want to enter the city especially when wanting to save time.

I agree with Rockland county and this toll should be done away with. The city already receives many tax payer dollars that they should be looking at how to spend more wisely rather than taxing more individuals like us, that constantly support it. Thoughts?!
