Congratulations!! You have completed what over 35% of the US population hasn't and it's getting harder as years go by. Definitely harder in metros and certain states. Most think the journey is over at the closing table.
The reality is the closing table is just the beginning of your journey. Being a homeowner changes your life completely. You may have been use to going out and enjoying a weekend of fun with less responsibilities and well now you are maybe running a list of to do's on your home.
On top of a list of to do's you are now researching labor, gadgets to stay under budget, ideas, contractors and when and how to do things yourself if possible. Next thing you are researching for the local hardware stores, grocery stores, & specialty food stores or maybe picking up a new homestead hobby.
There is a lot of pride in homeownership which would generally lead to ideas on how to decorate or prep your home to show off the best of you and your family throughout the different seasons.
Let's not forget there are those seasonal and preventive repairs that you must do as you prepare for a new season. The unforeseen expenses that come with setting up services like utilities in your home and researching to get the best service and prices.
Homeownership is a forever journey and as long as you care for your home; what is most likely your biggest asset, you will be forever busy investing and reinventing it. There is always something new to add to your home; however something that never grows old is the energy of love that is unique to each home. Timeless.
The best part of owning a home is that it's yours and it's up to you to make it your own.
