Did you know that in the state of NY telemarketers are not allowed to cold call any residents to their personal cell phone or home landline? What does that truly mean? It means if you are a business owner or are trying to sell some sort of service you can't contact anyone to their personal cell phone line or home residence line to attempt to sell your service.
What are the consequences? If a caller were to call a residence or personal phone number to promote their business there could be fines up to $40,000.
What does this mean? It means that if you are a business owner and would like to reach out to new customers you will not be allowed to call them unless it's to their business line.
Do you think this is fair? I certainly don't believe so. We all know the backbone of the American economy is small business owners and that would mean that there are smaller marketing budgets to effectively market and for some just one phone call could make a big difference.
What is worse the reasons and the how this ban is still in place is all wrong. What could really be the reasons for banning and outlawing cold call and how. could you merit it?
